After The Music
What to Expect at the Audition
​The audition will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will include contemporary, modern, and jazz-based movement.
​
Although the audition begins at 11:00 a.m., dancers should arrive 20–30 minutes early to sign in, receive their audition number, and prepare. Dancers may also use this time to stretch independently before the audition begins.
The audition will include:

A guided technique review

Learning an approximately 60-second choreographed combination

Performing the combination in small groups

Guided improvisation exercises

Partner and ensemble-based movement work
-
Opportunities to demonstrate musicality, storytelling, adaptability, and stage presence

No prepared solo is required.
​
The full audition will be completed in socks or barefoot. Dancers should wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows the creative team to clearly see movement and alignment.
​
Please bring water and anything else you may need throughout the afternoon. Dancers should be prepared to remain for the full audition period, although some may be released before 3:00 p.m. depending on the needs of the creative team.

This is a paid professional opportunity, with compensation based on standard CADA rates. Full rehearsal, performance, and compensation details will be provided to dancers selected for the production.
What is This Production About?
Nova: After the Music is an original full-length contemporary dance production by Jewish Voices in Music inspired by the true story of a survivor of the Nova Music Festival on October 7th.

Through movement, music, and the survivor's own words, the production explores the emotional journey from celebration to uncertainty, loss, resilience, and hope. Rather than just recounting history, the work invites audiences to connect with the deeply human experiences of fear, love, courage, and healing.

At its heart, Nova: After the Music is a tribute to the power of memory and the resilience of the human spirit. By transforming one person's story into a shared artistic experience, the production seeks to honour those whose lives were forever changed while creating space for reflection, empathy, and remembrance.

This is more than a dance performance; it is a moving theatrical experience that reminds us of the enduring ability of art to preserve stories, foster understanding, and bring people together.
