A hauntingly powerful opera based on the true words of Auschwitz survivors. Their stories of loss, memory, and resilience come to life through music that refuses to let their voices be forgotten. This production is both a remembrance and a call to never again turn away from the truth.

About the event

Two Remain (Out of Darkness) is a profoundly moving opera that recounts the true stories of two Auschwitz survivors, one a Polish political prisoner and the other a homosexual man, who struggle to come to terms with the horrors they endured. The opera uses text drawn directly from the survivors’ own journals, making the experience painfully real and deeply human. At a time when antisemitism is rising at alarming rates, and when far too many students and adults either do not know about the Holocaust or choose to deny it ever happened, a performance such as this becomes not just a work of art, but an act of remembrance.
